Getaway weekend at Erhai Lake, Yunnan Province

If you go to Dali, in Yunnan province, I would HIGHLY recommend spending a few days at the Erhai lake.

Around the lake you will find several villages and today I will focus on these two spots:

The Tie-dye workshop (蓝续古法扎染体验店(喜洲田园店) and its adorable village Xizhouzhen

In the tie-dye workshop, you can choose an item that you’d like to dye and they will teach you how to do it. They have a catalog so you can browse through different items and prices. It’s about 100-140 RMB each. On the second floor, there are two terraces where you can have a snack or drink and look at what tourists and locals below are making. You’ll also have an endless view of flat rice fields. I had a pear juice that made my day.

When you are done, check out the town because it is adorable. You’ll see tuk-tuks driving around with flowers in the back. There are many trendy shops and it will be the perfect place to discover what’s in vogue in China at the moment. In the main street there’s this cute cafe that has the most delicious sea salt caramel latte and the cutest coffee-bean-shaped earrings. They make perfumes, rose tea and flower cakes in the street. There are many adorable places to get dinner as well.

The Six Cafe and Hotel 六阅·無所(大理洱海双廊店) in Shuanglangzhen (双廊镇)

The Six Cafe and Hotel is really cute. I only stopped there for a hot chocolate and fruit tea and I haven’t had the chance to stay for a night, but I would love to one day. The cafe part downstairs was incredible. It looks like you could walk into the sea, and this place will make you forget that you are actually facing a lake. The place is upscale and luxurious so if you are looking for gorgeous views and don’t mind spending for a nice getaway effect, this is the place for you. When I was there, it was rainy and I still found the Six beautiful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

The village it’s in has a main shopping street with lots of cafes and snacks. I saw artisanal artifacts and seafood restaurants. It seems a bit more local than the place above, but I loved them equally.

The Art zone (大理床单厂艺术区)

That looked nice but unfortunately I didn’t go because of a lack of time. If you ever check it out let me know what you think!
